Antique Singer Table

Well, I'm not sure how old it is, but it's mine! My sister-in-law moved to Florida and couldn't take it with her, and asked if I wanted it. She didn't have the original machine, but that's okay.

Unfortunately her big dogs liked to chew on the corners. Oh boy. I will add some scratch cover/stain and hide it a bit.

I've seen some really cute Singer table makeovers on Pinterest, but for now I will enjoy as is, teeth marks and all.

Dyeing on a Saturday

Just doing a little dyeing with my friend Kimberlee, hoping a birdie doesn't poop on my wool while its drying on her deck. What a beautiful day! My son will be going to Prom later today. *sniffle* My baby!

Busy With A.....

......kitten! We swept up a stray's runt and brought him in a few weeks ago. It was midnight and he had been on our porch all afternoon and evening, and I couldn't stand leaving him out all night. So off I ran to Walmart at 1am to buy kitten milk replacer and a baby medicine dropper. We now have a bottle and he likes that much better. We still aren't sure the gender. Hubs said if it's a girl we "might" keep her. :-)  Cinnamon loves playing with and "babysitting" for me. I always know where he little guy is when we let him roam because Cinnamon is right behind! :-)

So maybe next time I will have the rest of the pictures from the hook-in for you. This furry baby has been taking up my free time. :-)

Amish Country Hook-In 2013

One of my favorite times of the year.....the Amish Country Hook-In!!! This is my second year going and I hope to never miss another one. I think there are 125 ladies who attend this one (and a few hubbies who help load the car and attend with their wives who are vending!).

We had a new location this year that was brigher and bigger than last year. And the food was great! Cheesecake for dessert! Oh my!

It was great to see my blogging friends. I feel so lucky to be near so many great hookers. Rhonda from My Glory Stars, Katie from Kidl' de Divey Woolens, Lauren from Rugs and Pugs, Julie from Plumrun Creek, Deb of Fly N Needle, Alice from A Day in the Life....I know I'm forgetting someone's blog....plus all of the ladies that I see at local hook-ins and the Western Reserve Rug Hookers Guild. So much fun!

Peg Loom Weaving

Long time my friends! Bronchitis knocked me down for about 3 weeks, I'm still not 100%, and now I'm blessed with a head cold. Yay! Lol, I always say I can't complain because it could be worse.

I saw an amazing weaving project on someone's Facebook page and was told it was done using a peg loom. I had never heard of such a thing, just the beautiful but expensive looms that take up a whole room. I would love to learn to weave "for real" but that will never happen I'm afraid. I love rug hooking and my other fiber crafts though.

So back to the peg loom.... Saturday evening I called my dad and told him about the peg loom and Sunday afternoon after church we were in his garage making one. Dad loves my projects. :-) I'm always asing him to do something for me. I like to keep him busy in his retirement. :)

 

Don't laugh, but the picture is of my first attempt. Ignore the fuzzy wool yarn ends. Next time I will be using t-shirt for the warp....or is it the weft?!? Oh, I didn't tell you...I used t-shirt yarn to weave. So neat to cut up an old t-shirt to use for a craft project! Making the "yarn" was fun!

I have some ideas what to do next and how to fix the looseness of the blue bit, and I hope to make a throw rug or two. This little thing is about the size of a mug rug, but it wove up quickly.

Punch Needle Retreat

I am so excited! We are taking a trip to Vermont this summer so that I can take a class from Amy Oxford of the Oxford Punch Needle! I have never attended a rug hooking retreat, just a few day hook-ins. The boys will be able to fish, golf, and do manly things while I hang out with the ladies and learn more rug punch techniques. We have never been to this part of the country so we are excited to see Vermont.
